The work of voluntary groups in collecting unwanted furniture and electrical goods for charitable purposes is commendable. It cannot be determined, however, that the material concerned would otherwise have been landfilled given that its potential for reuse and recycling is evidenced by its continuing usage value. My Department does not have funds available for allocation to support this work.
