Arrangements of this kind would be an operational issue for individual local authorities. However, most householders will have the option of home composting. Composting units can be constructed by the householder or purchased from a garden centre or hardware store. Many local authorities now provide compost bins at subsidised prices. Further information is available in the fact sheet on biological treatment of waste produced for race against waste, which is available from local authorities and from www.raceagainstwaste.com.
