Question 241: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the number of persons in receipt of the mobility allowance; her plans to increase the number of recipients in the near future; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12239/05]

The latest figure available for the number in receipt of the mobility allowance is 3,376 as of 31 December 2003 at a cost of in excess of €4.3 million. My Department currently has no plans to expand this scheme.
