Question 141: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the contents of correspondence from a person (details supplied) in Dublin 17 regarding serious ongoing anti-social activity directed at their family; and the action which he has taken on foot of these complaints. I have been informed by the Garda authorities that they are aware of the problems being experienced by this family and the matter is being addressed by local Garda management. I am further informed that a Garda inspector from Santry station is personally liaising with the family in question and the area concerned is receiving daily Garda attention. There is also a community Garda allocated to the area. In addition, there are contacts between the Garda and the relevant local authority.

Some persons have been arrested and dealt with under the juvenile diversion programme and prosecutions are pending before the District Courts in regard to other incidents. Policing plans in the area aim to prevent anti-social and public order offences, to prevent crime including crimes of violence against persons and crimes against property and to maintain an environment conducive to the improvement of quality of life of the residents. Patrols are directed to pay particular attention to residential areas where local youths tend to congregate. I understand that this strategy is, and will continue to be, central to the delivery of a policing service to the area in question.
