Question 247: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the campaign to have fair trade products widely available and used; her views on the objectives of this campaign; and if she will endeavour to have such fair trade approved products used in her Department. I am aware of the campaign to have fair trade products widely available and used and of the benefits of such a campaign.

The purchase of any products by my Department would have to be in accordance with the procedures governing public procurement. Regarding services such as the restaurant in my Department or catering for events organised by my Department, it is a matter for the catering companies concerned to make their own decisions on purchasing supplies.
