Question 435: To ask the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources when a decision will be made in respect of the application of Wexford County Council for urgently needed funding to address coastal erosion issues in County Wexford; if his attention has been drawn to the severe damage caused by winter storms at New Ross; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Wexford County Council recently forwarded proposals for funding for coast protection works to the Department. These proposals are under consideration at present in conjunction with the 2005 national coastal protection programme and in the context of the amount of Exchequer funding available for coast protection works generally and overall national priorities.

The Department has not, to date, received any application from Wexford County Council in respect of storm damage at New Ross.
