Question 52: To ask the Minister for Transport if his Department has secured approval from the Department of Finance to hire additional driving testers to reduce the large backlog in the numbers awaiting a driving test; if not, the reason for the difficulty in increasing the number of testers; if he has alternative proposals to reduce the waiting times; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is in discussions with the Department of Finance on a number of initiatives, including the recruitment of additional testers, aimed at reducing waiting times.
