Question 38: To ask the Minister for Transport the reason for the six-month delay in the NRA publishing the Road Collision Facts report for 2003; the action he will take to ensure that the data for this report are provided in a more timely manner in future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The publication of the annual review of road collision data is a matter for the National Roads Authority, NRA, and is undertaken by authority's research section.
I am informed by the NRA that the publication of the Road Collision Facts 2003 report was somewhat later than normal as a result of delays in the receipt of information by the NRA regarding a limited number of collisions. The reasons for the delay have since been addressed. I understand that publication of Road Collision Facts 2004 is anticipated during the second half of 2005, in line with the timeframe that usually applies.
