Question 666: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the number of appointments to public boards and bodies under the aegis of his Department that he has made for the past three years; if such appointments are salaried; if so, the salary details for each category of appointment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A number of statutory processes are involved when making appointments to public bodies. Statutory selection procedures must be followed in some cases, or nominations must be sought from independent nominating panels before appointments are made by the Government or by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. In other cases, only particular public office holders may be appointed to certain boards. In a number of cases, only some appointments to the body concerned are made by the Minister. In light of that, I will list the names of people appointed to public boards and bodies under the aegis of the Department over the past three years. The list contains remuneration details, where applicable, for different categories of appointment:
