Question 37: To ask the Minister for Finance if his Department has obtained an extension to the one-month deadline set by the European Commission regarding Ireland's comments on the nature of the stallion tax relief; the date of the new deadline; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Officials from my Department and the Department of Agriculture and Food met with officials from the Commission Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development on 23 February 2005. At this meeting, the Commission agreed to extend the deadline to respond to their letter of 6 January 2005 to the end of March.
