Question 328: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the fact that eight members of the Garda special branch who raided the home of a Cork Sinn Féin councillor on 21 February 2005 did not question the councillor on any crime or criminal activity and took with them only the councillor's notes on council meetings and business; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities that, as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into suspected money laundering activity, a number of properties in the southern Garda region were searched in recent weeks in accordance with law.

I am further informed that the home of the person in question was searched by the Garda Síochána but that no property of the kind described by the Deputy was removed and taken by gardaí.
