Question 214: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the concerns expressed by the Irish Hardware and Building Materials Association regarding the significant changes which he proposes to make to the retail planning guidelines; the impact that these changes will have on existing retailers outside of Dublin; if he will postpone the implementation of those changes, especially outside of Dublin, until the impact of the changes has been assessed by the Joint Committee on the Environment and Local Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to the reply to Questions Nos. 1367, 1383 and 1384 of 26 January 2005. As indicated in that reply, the revised retail planning guidelines came into effect from 1 February 2005. It is not proposed to revoke them or to postpone their implementation.
