The Malin town sewerage scheme has been approved for funding in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2004-2006 under the rural towns and villages initiative. My Department approved Donegal County Council's preliminary report for the scheme in June 2004, subject to a number of conditions, including a review by the council of the design population of the scheme prior to preparation of contract documents. Further advancement of the scheme is, at this point, a matter for Donegal County Council.

Monaghan County Council's preliminary report for the scheme is under examination in my Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
