Question 354: To ask the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to correspondence from North Tipperary County Council regarding necessary maintenance work to the Ballyfinboy River; if his attention has further been drawn to the urgency associated with such maintenance work; when he will sanction the necessary funds to carry out this work; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Ballyfinboy River does not form part of any drainage scheme for which the Commissioners of Public Works have a maintenance responsibility under the Arterial Drainage Act 1945. Moreover, from the information available to the commissioners, it appears that this river would be unlikely to meet the criteria that would lead to it being included on the priority list for flood relief schemes in the foreseeable future.
