Question 304: To ask the Minister for Transport if consideration has been given to bringing the Luas from Benburb Street, through Stoneybatter, the Navan Road and up to Blanchardstown and Clonee and beyond, with park and ride facilities being available for motorists in Clonee to facilitate commuters living in this significant catchment area. Responsibility for the development of specific proposals for the expansion of Luas services lies with the Railway Procurement Agency, RPA. However, provision of further transport services in the greater Dublin area is being pursued within the broad policy framework established by the Dublin Transportation Office's A Platform for Change. This framework does not envisage an extension of the Luas network to Clonee in the period to 2016. At present, Iarnród Éireann is planning to expand services on the Maynooth line later this year and is also looking into the feasibility of the development of a spur from the Maynooth line to Dunboyne. This would have the effect of improving rail services to the city centre from the Clonee catchment area.
