The Kildare town sewerage scheme is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2004-2006 as a scheme to start construction in 2005, at an estimated cost of €21 million. My Department has recently approved Kildare County Council's proposals to appoint a consultant to prepare a preliminary report for the scheme and it is now a matter for the council to proceed with the appointment.

Question 584: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the progress that has been made to approve and implement the Shanganagh-Bray main drainage and the Corke Abbey pumping station schemes documents (details supplied) which was submitted to his Department in June 2003 and which were the subject of Question No. 783 of 27 April 2004. The Corke Abbey pumping station is an element of the Shanganagh sewerage scheme which is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2004-2006 to commence construction this year. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council's tender recommendation for the pumping station is under consideration in my Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
