Question 169: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if she will sanction the board of management of a school (details supplied) in County Galway to apply for planning permission to provide two extra classrooms and a general purpose room under the devolved grant scheme in view of the fact that the application has been made to her Department for grant aid since May or June 2004; and if she will make a statement on the matter. An application for grant aid towards additional accommodation has been received from the management authority of the school to which the Deputy refers.
My officials are nearing completion of a review of all projects including projects that may be suitable for the devolved scheme in line with the revised prioritisation criteria that resulted from consultation with the partners. The purpose of the review is to enable and inform a multi-annual approach to the school building programme. I expect to be providing details of this multi-annual programme before the end of the current year.
