My Department is preparing a detailed response to the European Commission's communication concerning Ireland's implementation of the EU urban waste water treatment directive. The reply will issue within the next few weeks and will demonstrate the commitment, as reflected in my Department's water services investment programme 2004-2006 to provide the necessary treatment facilities within the shortest possible timeframe.
