Question 138: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if FÁS has undertaken an assessment of the labour market needs of the Clare region in the context of the closure of the LES; if as part of this assessment it would bring forward recommendations on the type of employment service activity necessary to address the particular needs of marginalised client groups in the region as defined in Question No. 106 of 12 February 2004; and if she will make a statement on the matter. At my request, FÁS undertook an assessment of the labour market needs of the County Clare region in the context of the closure of the local employment service. It consulted relevant parties in the region, including staff representatives and SIPTU, as part of the process. The assessment has been completed and my Department is considering the report.
