The Southern Health Board has prepared a draft brief to extend Bandon Community Hospital from 23 to 40 beds. The issue of the appointment of a design team for this project is at present being considered by my Department in the context of a review of the new capital commitments which can be commenced under the capital framework 2004 — 2008, in line with overall funding resources. My Department will remain in touch with the Southern Health Board in relation to approval for a design team for this proposed development.
