Question 180: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if the new rural community scheme will be administered by FÁS; her views on whether the social economy scheme should be incorporated into the community and employment scheme; and her further views on whether, for the sake of efficiency, the framework that exists for community employment schemes should be used to administer the new rural community scheme. Funding for the new rural community scheme was allocated in the budget to the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and responsibility for the structure and administration of the scheme rests with that Department. The scheme will be run separately from the existing community employment scheme and will not be administered by FÁS.

A review of the social economy programme was undertaken and is being considered at present by FÁS and my Department. The review will inform the future direction of the programme.
