Question 342: To ask the Minister for Education and Science his policy in respect of provision of local, nutritious food in the canteens and restaurants in the Department; the percentage of the purchased provisions which are produced locally; the percentage which is imported; the percentage of the food on sale which is fast food; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Education and Science has restaurant facilities in Athlone, Dublin and Tullamore. It is the policy of management of the restaurants to provide fresh, nutritious, locally produced food as far as possible, taking account of availability and quality of the required products at a given time. In general fast food is not provided.
