I have received notice from Senator Fiona O'Loughlin that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to provide an update on the implementation of the recommendations of the report of the Commission on the Defence Forces.

I have also received notice from Senator Marie Sherlock of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the potential loss of early childhood care and education, ECCE, places due to the establishment of autism spectrum disorder, ASD, units within primary schools where ECCE providers are also located.

I have also received notice from Senator Garret Ahearn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for special education and inclusion to set up a scheme to allow school principals apply to upgrade their special educational needs classrooms.

I have also received notice from Senator Malcolm Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to make a statement on her Department’s role in determining criteria for health insurance for international students.

I have also received notice from Senator Mary Fitzpatrick of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to make a statement on plans to introduce a vacant property tax in budget 2023.

I have also received notice from Senator Aisling Dolan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for heritage and electoral reform to provide an update on the conservation status of 45 special areas of conservation turloughs, in particular, the restoration of habitats and protection of wildlife in the Lough Funshinagh area.

The need for the Minister for Social Protection to make a statement on the current youth unemployment rate and steps being taken to help young people into the workforce.

I have also received notice from Senator Sharon Keogan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for planning and local government to make a statement on the allocation of funding for the provision of a dedicated EU affairs officer and a strategic policy committee in each local authority area.

I have also received notice from Senator Fintan Warfield of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the roll-out of eight 24-hour bus routes in Dublin, as recommended by the night-time economy task force.

I have also received notice from Senator Tim Lombard of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine to make a statement on plans to review the aquaculture licence application process to improve processing timeframes.

I have also received notice from Senator Emer Currie of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the DEIS status of St. Luke’s National School, Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15.

Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected the matters of Senators O’Loughlin, Sherlock, Ahearn, Malcolm Byrne, Fitzpatrick and Dolan, and they will be taken now. I regret I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Warfield on the ground that the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
