I have received notice in writing from Senator Denis Landy of his resignation as a Member of Seanad Éireann. I thank Senator Landy for his contribution during his service as a Member of the House and I wish him well in the future. Senator Landy, with whom I served for some years, was first elected in 2011. He was nominated then by the Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland and won a seat on the Administrative Panel. In 2016 he was nominated on the Agricultural Panel by the Irish Greyhound Owners and Breeders Association. For many years he was a member of, and outspoken voice for Carrick-on-Suir on, South Tipperary County Council. This is a momentous decision for him. My function is to accept and announce his resignation and to wish him well.
