I have received notice from Senator Maria Byrne that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to outline any incentives he proposes to introduce to encourage tourists to use all regional airports and hotels in light of the shortage of hotel beds in the Dublin area and the high cost currently in obtaining a hotel room with 90% of all tourists now coming through Dublin Airport.

I have also received notice from Senator Jennifer Murnane O’Connor of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the current status of the Holy Angels Day Care Centre in Carlow town.

I have also received notice from Senator Colette Kelleher of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to outline how the €22 million provided under the national dementia strategy for intensive home care packages has been spent, to comment on what supports will be provided in budget 2017 to allow people with dementia to remain living in their own homes, and to clarify how his Department intends to address the need for multi-annual, ring-fenced funding for home care supports for people with dementia and for legislation creating a statutory right to home care.

I have also received notice from Senator Catherine Ardagh of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to provide an update in relation to the progress of a primary care centre in the Crumlin-Drimnagh area and to ask the Minister what stage of development the primary care centre is at.

I have also received notice from Senator Máire Devine of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to respond to the grave concerns on the proposed 50% cut of night nursing staff at Cloverhill Remand Prison.

I have also received notice from Senator Paul Gavan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade to state if he approved the landing or transit through Irish airspace of certain US military aircraft and if so why given that the presence of these aircraft, belonging to a belligerent state, in or over Irish territory is a clear breach of Ireland's international law obligations as a neutral state.

I have also received notice from Senator Gerard Craughwell of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to explain why the decision of the Defence Forces Ombudsman on the redress of wrongs in relation to Lieutenant Colonel John Hamill have not yet been implemented.

I have also received notice from Senator Colm Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to establish a forum involving all interest groups in the provision of elderly care, including the HSE, the Department of Health, Nursing Homes Ireland, general practitioners, GPs and geriatricians.

I have also received notice from Senator Ivana Bacik of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation to inform the House when she proposes to implement the recommendation of the copyright review committee in its report, Modernising Copyright, published October 2013, concerning the extension of the small claims procedure in the District Court to include intellectual property claims up to the value of €15,000, as provided for within the draft statutory instrument prepared by the committee.

I have also received notice from Senator Grace O’Sullivan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to urgently address the impact large-scale seaweed harvesting will have on delicate coastal kelp ecosystems and small-scale local harvesting.

I have also received notice from Senator Ged Nash of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation to discuss the Government's response to the UK referendum vote to leave the European Union and the implications for jobs, businesses and communities in the Border counties.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Byrne, Murnane O'Connor, Kelleher, Ardagh, Devine, Gavan, Craughwell, Colm Burke, Bacik and Grace O’Sullivan as suitable for discussion. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Byrne, Murnane O’Connor, Kelleher and Ardagh and they will be taken now. Senators Devine, Gavan, Craughwell, Colm Burke, Bacik and Grace O’Sullivan may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.

I regret I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Nash on the grounds that the matter anticipates statements on the UK referendum result and is more suitable for discussion as a substantive motion.
