I have received notice from Senator Martin Conway that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to make a statement on his plans for the future of the Garda Reserve, in particular whether its function could be extended to providing crime prevention advice to the elderly living alone.
I have also received notice from Senator Averil Power of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to change the law so that people found guilty of serious offences, such as domestic violence, assault and sexual offences, cannot pay financial compensation in lieu of a custodial sentence.
I have also received notice from Senator John Kelly of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to allocate funds to local authorities to ensure the implementation of various environmental initiatives that will lead to more staffing in each county and result in supplementing the declining outdoor workforce within those authorities.
I have also received notice from Senator Thomas Byrne of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to set out the position regarding the transfer of Gormanston College to the free education sector and what it means for parents in the locality of this school seeking a local secondary school.
I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
