I have received notice from Senator Martin Conway that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform to confirm if contracts have been signed for phase 2 of the Ennis flood relief scheme and to advise on the proposed timeframe both for commencement and completion.

I have also received notice from Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to clarify the new criteria for the allocation of herring quota for the north-west herring and the Celtic Sea herring fishery and if he will agree that the new arrangement will impact very negatively on the Donegal fishing industry.

I have also received notice from Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh of the following matter:

Go dtabharfaidh an tAire Talmhaíocht, Mara agus Bia eolas maidir leis na leibhéil eitinn atá ann - contae ar chontae - ar fud na tíre, míniú cén fáth an bhfuil na leibhéil eitinn chomh hard i gcontaetha an Chláir, Iarthar Chorcaí agus Cill Mhantáin thoir agus cé chomh gníomhach is atá cláir fiadhúlra na Roinne maidir le broic a bhfuil an ghalair eitinn orthu a thógáil as na ceantair seo.

I have also received notice from Senator Jim D'Arcy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to clarify the measures being taken to curb the problem of fuel laundering and smuggling and the recouping of moneys lost to the Exchequer through this illegal activity.

I have also received notice from Senator Deirdre Clune of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to address the issues raised by the Competitiveness Council concerning the maths competency of Irish students.

I have also received notice from Senator Mark Daly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to outline the current system for updating members of the legal profession on any changes in the law regarding in particular legislation and any plans to modernise the current system.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Conway, Ó Domhnaill, Ó Clochartaigh, D'Arcy and Clune as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters tabled by Senators Conway, Ó Domhnaill, Ó Clochartaigh and D'Arcy and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Clune may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise. I regret I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Daly as the Minister has no responsibility in this matter.
