I move:

That Seanad Éireann:

—notes the Report of the Joint Committee on Investigations, Oversight and Petitions on ''Revised Orders of Reference for the Joint Committee'', copies of which were laid before Seanad Éireann on 25 January, 2012, and the proposals contained therein for changes to Standing Orders, and

—resolves that the report be referred to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges for consideration of the said proposals.''.

I will not agree to this being taken without debate but I will take up the Leader on his offer to defer it to next week. The papers were only laid in the House yesterday. If we can set aside 40 minutes next week, the matter can go to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges.

The Leader has the choice of withdrawing the motion now and reintroducing it next week or agreeing it now.

It is a reasonable request. The motion will come back after going to the Committee on Procedure and Privileges. We will see what the committee has to say about it and then we will discuss it.

Will it be considered by the Committee on Procedure and Privileges next week and then return to this House within a week? Are we constrained by time on this point?

No.

On the basis, it is fine if it comes here after the Committee on Procedure and Privileges.

Question put and agreed to.

I move:

That, in relation to the role of the Joint Oireachtas Committee under the Broadcasting Act 2009, the papers connected therewith of the Joint Committee on Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, established by Orders of Dáil and Seanad Éireann of the 23 and 24 October 2007, respectively be referred to the Joint Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture established by Orders of Dáil and Seanad Éireann.''

Question put and agreed to.
