I have received notice from Senator Terry Leyden that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to provide an update on the progress and implementation of the Garda Síochána-local authority joint policing committees provided for in the Garda Síochána Act 2005.

I have also received notice from Senator Maria Corrigan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to clarify if people with intellectual disability living in residential accommodation funded by the State will be refunded money deducted from their disability allowances in a similar manner to nursing home residents; and to indicate if future permitted deductions will be standardised and calculated on the basis of agreed criteria to ensure transparency and consistency.

I have also received notice from Senator Paddy Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism to give the up-to-date position on a new swimming pool in Castlebar, County Mayo.

I have also received notice from Senator Cecilia Keaveney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to indicate a willingness to explore with the Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism, the Minister for Health and Children and their officials the way recent research underlining the links between music and the development of the left hemisphere of the brain, which supports reasoning, can be brought into early education opportunities.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Terry Leyden, Maria Corrigan and Paddy Burke and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Cecilia Keaveney may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
