I have notice from Senator Brian Hayes that on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to set out her plans for the National Children's Hospital in Tallaght in the context of the recent decision of Government to designate the Mater Hospital as the new national paediatric hospital; and if she will publish without further delay, the overall score of each of the bids in terms of the nine McKinsey criteria established by the joint task force.

I have also received notice from Senator Dooley of the following matter:

Having regard to the urgent need for a CAT scanner at Ennis General Hospital, the need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline the current situation regarding the proposal submitted to the Department and the Health Service Executive on same.

I have also received notice from Senator John Paul Phelan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline the current plans with regard to FÁS community employment schemes, in particular, the manning of such schemes where some are oversubscribed while neighbouring schemes face closure due to manpower shortages.

I have also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to facilitate the introduction of licensed competition and choice in the waste compliance sector.

I have also received notice from Senator Browne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to clarify if she plans to change the current practice where primary school teachers give up five days of their summer holidays to get back three personal leave days; and if she plans to allow paid substitute cover for those days.

I have also received notice from Senator Kitt of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to outline the present position on the Mountbellew sewerage scheme, County Galway.

I have also received notice from Senator Finucane of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to outline the number of houses under council ownership and the number of private houses that will have improvement works carried out in Glenma housing estate in Croom, County Limerick, which was approved in principle by his Department on 14 May 2002, when construction will commence and the timeframe for completion of this project.

I have also received notice from Senator Ulick Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to co-ordinate and plan in conjunction with the National Roads Authority, Galway County Council, North Tipperary County Council and Waterways Ireland an appropriate plan for the Portumna bridge over the River Shannon taking into account the current and future transport needs of the area.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Brian Hayes, Dooley, John Paul Phelan, Ross, Browne, Kitt and Finucane as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Brian Hayes, Dooley and John Paul Phelan and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Ross, Browne, Kitt and Finucane may give notice on another day of the matter they wish to raise. I regret I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Ulick Burke as the Minister has no official responsibly for the matter.
