I have received notice from Senator Ulick Burke that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to outline if it is his intention to recruit the much-needed additional driving testers from outside the Department as opposed to from within it where there is already a pool of highly-qualified driving testers available with the relevant experience, knowledge and expertise.

I have also received notice from Senator Feighan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs to comment on the future of the Arigna Leader tourism programme.

I have also received notice from Senator Higgins of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to address the deficiencies and defects as outlined by the Ombudsman in a report to his Department on the fishing vessels lost at sea scheme 2001.

I have also received notice from Senator Bannon of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs to give an update regarding essential funding for Legan neighbourhood watch and community alert, County Longford, under the programme of grants for locally-based community and voluntary organisations as this group provides an invaluable service to the local community and is urgently in need of such funding.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Ulick Burke, Feighan and Higgins and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Bannon may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
