I have received notice from Senator O'Rourke that, on the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister of Finance to outline in respect of the towns of Athlone, Mullingar and Longford when the planned decentralisation of Departments will take place, the numbers involved; and if he will provide all up-to-date details on these decentralisations.

I have also received notice from Senator Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Government, to promote a national minute of silence to be observed at 11.02 a.m. on 9 August, the 60th anniversary of the last major catastrophe of the Second World War, the bombing of Nagasaki city, so Ireland may join in similar commemorations across the world.

I have also received notice from Senator Paddy Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to indicate the plans for local authorities in view of the regulations governing employers to provide pension arrangements for local authority members, whose local authority work is, in some cases, their full-time employment.

I have also received notice from Senator Finucane of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Sciences to allow Raheenagh, Ashford, Broadford and Templeglantine schools in County Limerick to retain the present level of teaching resources to cater for the special education needs of the pupils of these schools.

I have also received notice from Senator Browne of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason Shanagarry Community Childcare Limited, County Carlow, was unsuccessful in its application for capital funding in 2005.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators O'Rourke, Quinn and Paddy Burke and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Finucane and Browne may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
