I have received notice from Senator O'Toole that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to give full recognition to further education, including post-leaving certificate courses, as a specific sector of the education system, and to indicate her vision for the development of further education and her timescale for the implementation of the McIver report.

I have also received notice from Senator Mooney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to outline his views on the decision of the Chinese National People's Congress to pass anti-secession laws which, if implemented, would threaten the stability of the region.

I have also received notice from Senator Coghlan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to resolve the difficulties regarding the Firies Scartaglen southern section B water scheme pipe project as it affects Rathmore, where demand exceeds supply by approximately 25,000 gallons per day, thereby leaving people with little or no water for domestic use.

I have also received notice from Senator Bannon of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to explain the prohibition on a Nigerian woman, a qualified nurse, from engaging in full-time employment.

I have also received notice from Senator John Paul Phelan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to ensure that the commitment entered into by his predecessor with the Comerama workforce on 12 December 2002 regarding their entitlements under new redundancy payment legislation is fully and promptly honoured.

I have also received notice from Senator Leyden of the following matter:

The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children to outline the arrangements proposed regarding the regional health fora and advisory panels provided for in Part 8 of the Health Act 2004, with particular reference to size and composition, date of appointment and the rules and procedures that will apply.

I have also received notice from Senator Kitt of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to approve the commencement of the Milltown sewerage scheme, in Tuam, County Galway.

I have also received notice from Senator Tuffy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to give an update on the case of a student, details supplied, and the urgent need for compassionate consideration of his situation to permit him to return to Ireland to complete his leaving certificate studies; and the steps to be taken to ensure his welfare.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators O'Toole, Mooney and Coghlan and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Bannon, John Paul Phelan, Leyden, Kitt and Tuffy may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
