I have received notice from Senator Tuffy that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to make a statement on the Government's plans regarding the report of the Commission on Science, Technology and Innovation and, in particular, the strategy to be adopted regarding spending on research and development arising from the report.

I have also received notice from Senator Scanlon of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to clarify the position on lands designated special areas of conservation which are not registered as such by the Land Registry, are then purchased and reclaimed and DĂșchas is now insisting be returned to their original state.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Meara of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to replace staff at Nenagh Law Centre in order to alleviate the long waiting list there and meet the promises made by his predecessor to maintain at least three solicitors at the centre.

I have also received notice from Senator Leyden of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to outline the reasons for the recent introduction of a charge for coarse fishing, in the form of fishing permits, in selected areas on the River Suck.

I have also received notice from Senator Morrissey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to make a statement on the level of suicide in Ireland; and if an investigation has been carried out into the number of suicide victims who may have been prescribed Cipramil by their general practitioners and were on this medication when they committed suicide.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Tuffy, Scanlon and O'Meara and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Leyden and Morrissey may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
