I have received notice from Senator Glynn that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Environment and Local Government to provide the necessary resources to upgrade the Mullingar sewer network and sewage treatment plant in order to allow the town to develop as a gateway town as envisaged in the national spacial strategy.

I have also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to outline the criteria he uses in appointing members to State boards under his aegis, in particular Aer Rianta.

I have also received notice from Senator Coghlan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to outline the details of the intended closure and proposed sale of the Torc Great Southern Hotel, Killarney, County Kerry; the present position of the Great Southern Hotel, Parknasilla, and the proposals, if any, for the remainder of the group.

I have also received notice from Senator Henry of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline the reason Ireland has not signed the Oviedo Convention which, among other matters on human rights, prohibits the cloning of human beings.

I have also received notice from Senator John Paul Phelan of the following matter:

The need to ask the Minister for Finance, in view of the fact that research has shown that the south-east region has lagged behind the State average in the context of economic performance and prospects, the action he is going to take to reverse this trend.

I have also received notice from Senator Morrissey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to outline the measures he proposes to initiate to overcome the traffic gridlock which will be caused at Parkgate Street, Dublin 7, with the introduction of a two and a half minute interval for the Luas service crossing there.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Glynn, Ross and Coghlan as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Henry, John Paul Phelan and Morrissey may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
