Yesterday, I brought up the issue of hate crime legislation and asked where that legislation is now.I and other members of ethic minority groups, as well as LGBTQI+ communities and disabled people, believe this legislation is extremely important. Sadly, it is evidently required in society. I again call for a date to be set for Committee Stage of the Criminal Justice (Incitement to Violence or Hatred and Hate Offences) Bill 2022. I ask the Leader to make it a priority to write to the Clerk of the Seanad in that regard. This hate crime legislation is a priority for all Members of this House and we should be able to debate it on Committee Stage. I am seeking a commitment that the House will take Committee Stage of the Bill within the next two or three months.
