I wish to state that children with dyslexia are exempt from the language requirement. I do not know the reasoning behind the proposal to remove the requirement for maths and languages but I ask Senators to let me tell them the reason it should not happen. First, 70% of the people hired by the likes of Google are from abroad because Ireland does not have enough graduates with languages.
