Water Services (Amendment) Bill 2011: Committee Stage (Resumed)

The reason this provision is included in the Bill is that the provision of any additional information could include such issues as the type of system that is already there, when it was installed and whether it is serviced regularly. It will help the EPA and local authorities to come up with what they regard an appropriate national inspection plan. There is a catch-all statement in the Bill to allow us to get that information in order that we can have a reasonable interpretation of what the general requirement is for people as part of the inspection plan. It is not mandatory but it allows us to ask for that information.
