I just want to comment on the wiring grants scheme that people have suggested to tds.Even if there isnt a wiring grant in place could there be a grant just for the new fuse boards then at least the old wiring is protected and theres an rcd protecting the socket circuits which would make homes safe .This would reduce the risk of cables overheating and going on fire with the new mcbs in place.If theres a faulty circuit then just replace that circuit rather than a full rewire.
