Pharmacy Bill 2007: Committee Stage (Resumed) and Remaining Stages
6:00 pm
Brendan Ryan (Labour)
This section outlines the penalties for all the offences under this legislation. It provides that they will all be subject to the same spectrum of penalties. Are we sure that all the offences that could be committed under this Bill are of equivalent gravity, or has this section been drafted in this way as a convenient catch-all device? I do not want to delay the House, although we are doing reasonably well for time. It seems strange to me that every offence under this legislation will attract a penalty from the same spectrum.
