I understand that the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Deputy Ó Cuív, wants to examine the bodies that operate in the west to bring rationalisation to the area. The Minister has strongly denied that he proposed the abolition of the council of the west, or even a diminution of its importance.
