Seanad debates

Business of Seanad.

The Order of Business allows Senators only to ask a question about the business proposed for that day or about forthcoming legislation, or to request a debate on a certain matter. Although the Chair has always allowed more latitude to leaders of groups, lengthy or detailed contributions by Senators are not in order. After I have called the Leader to reply, I cannot allow any Senator to interrupt her or to add to his or her original contribution.
