Business of Seanad.

10:30 am

Rory Kiely (Fianna Fail)

I have notice from Senator Terry that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism to make a statement concerning the failure in his Department to fund Morton Stadium, Santry, properly and the reason his Department has reneged on a payment of €79,000 per year to the stadium since 1998.

I have also received notice from Senator Coonan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline urgently to the House the reason the national breast cancer screening programme is unavailable to women in the Mid-Western Health Board area.

I have also received notice from Senator Bradford of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to respond to the proposed closure of IFI

I have also received notice from Senator Henry of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to indicate who, if not the taxpayer, will pay for historic liabilities in medical indemnity claims given the changes he has made to medical negligence cover in this country.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Terry, Coonan and Bradford and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Henry may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
