I must now deal with a postponed division relating to the motion regarding correcting pension inequities. On Wednesday, 18 October 2017, on the question that the amendment to the motion be agreed to, a division was claimed and in accordance with Standing Order 70(2), that division must be taken now.

(a) To insert the following words after "that reversal of the 2012 changes to the State pension would cost €60 million;":
"— further acknowledges that there are more 65 years olds than any other age group in the State on Jobseekers payments;"; and
(b)To insert the following words after "should be given the option of continuing to work.":
"— the reinstatement of the State Pension Transition until such time as mandatory retirement ages are abolished and older people are guaranteed a fair and sustainable pension at retirement via a comprehensive programme of pension system reform, which would cost €84 million."

To delete the words “the current eligibility criteria for pension entitlement to be examined;” and substitute the following:— the current eligibility criteria for pension entitlement to be examined with a focus on differentiated impacts on men, women and carers in the home;

— the publication of the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection’s review of Government pension policy with a focus on differentiated impacts on men and women;

— the Government to indicate a timeline for the retrospective application of the Homemaker’s Scheme to 1973;

— a commitment from Government that any introduction of a total contributions approach from 2020 will be for all pensions;”
