I have spoken on this previously in respect of the motion of referral to the joint committee. I welcome the fact that the prison is being developed. The Minister is putting in place a liaison officer for the residents of Brandon Crescent and elsewhere. I hope monitoring will ensure the existence of an orderly construction site that will not affect the quality of life of residents in the area. The development should be built in the understanding that it will be beside a residential area. The relevant authorities should be very conscious of that. I highlighted this in my previous contributions. It is critical to liaise with the local communities.

I reassure the Deputy that not only will a liaison officer be put in place for the residents in respect of the construction but a plan will also be put in place in regard to it. Traffic, dust, noise, starting times and finishing times are important considerations when constructing a building so near to a residential area, and I assure the Deputy they will be considered.

Question put and agreed to.
