That the Ceann Comhairle direct the Clerk of the Dáil to issue his writ for the election of a Member to fill the vacancy which has occurred in the membership of the present Dáil consequent on the resignation from Dáil Éireann of James McDaid, a Member for the constituency of Donegal North-East.

A Cheann Comhairle, is it within the remit of the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to advise the House before he disappears into the ether and we do not see him for some time, as to what date the Government now intends to proceed with the by-election for Donegal South-West? Would he so make that announcement here and now?
