I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Joanna Tuffy — the need to consult with the indigenous lighting industry on the proposed banning, or phasing out, of traditional light bulbs; (2) Deputy Thomas McEllistrim — the need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to establish a special squad in the Garda force to deal with anti-social behaviour and public disorder and to strongly urge the Minister to introduce this squad on a pilot basis in Tralee town; (3) Deputy Andrew Doyle — the need to address Government funding into research for the treatment of muscular dystrophy; (4) Deputy Emmet Stagg — the need to address the difficulties for public transport users caused by the closure of the Circle Line bus company; (5) Deputy James Bannon — the need for the Minister for Education and Science to provide an update on the new school building for Loughegar national school, County Westmeath, as the original building dates back to 1872, which has been delayed without any explanation from his Department and the school now faces the prospect of having to go back to tender due to the risk of losing the builder, whose tender has been accepted; (6) Deputy Seán Sherlock — to ask the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if the Government will provide economic assistance to Youghal's bid to host the northern Europe leg of the P1 power boat world championships in 2009; (7) Deputy Mary Alexandra White — the need for a stand-alone dedicated law centre in Carlow; and (8) Deputy David Stanton — to ask the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to debate the urgent need to address the failure of the Veterinary Council of Ireland to recognise the qualifications of a number of veterinary nursing students who studied at St. John's Central College, Cork in 2005 and who, because of a loophole in legislation, are not eligible for inclusion on the provisional register of veterinary nurses and who may not be in a position to continue working as veterinary nurses as a result after 1 July 2008.

The matters raised by Deputies Doyle, Stagg, White and Tuffy have been selected for discussion.
