I move:
That Dáil Éireann resolves that section 17A (inserted by section 2(1) of the Diseases of Animals (Amendment) Act 2001 (No.3 of 2001) of the Diseases of Animals Act 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) shall continue in force for the period ending on 8th March, 2009.
Willie Penrose (Longford-Westmeath, Labour)

A commitment was given in 2001 when I was here as regards this being an emergency measure. How long is this emergency measure going to last? Will there be a commitment to consolidate the 1966 and 2001 Acts as soon as possible?
Brendan Howlin (Wexford, Labour)

I shall take a very brief response, because this is supposed to be without debate.

We shall have new legislation to consolidate all of those.
