Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with notices under Standing Order 32. I will call the Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office. I call Deputy Ó Caoláin.

I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources to address the widespread concern among communities along the entire route of the planned power lines through Counties Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, Armagh and Tyrone, serving the planned new North-South inter-connector jointly developed by EirGrid and NIE and the Meath-Cavan link developed by EirGrid, to ensure that the lines are routed underground; that these essential projects proceed successfully and in full compliance with safety standards; and that local democracy, political accountability and community participation in the planning process for major infrastructural projects are restored through the repeal of the Planning and Development (Strategic Infrastructure) Act 2006.

I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need for any proposed reform of the Seanad to proceed directly to a system of representation of all citizens in place of any retention of a franchise that is restricted to a minority of the population; and that this be based on selection through representative sectoral and community organisations.

Having given the matters full consideration, I do not consider them to be in order under Standing Order 32.
