Enda Kenny (Mayo, Fine Gael) | Oireachtas source
This is a building that will not be finished until 2021. Last year's estimate in respect of the cost of the project was €650 million. It will be four years hence before the facility will be completed. My understanding is that a very significant experienced committee will meet and carefully monitor that fixed price contract. We hope it will serve the children of the island of Ireland for the next 50 years.

Poor access
Restricted site
Below average parking spaces
The most expensive option (and least advantageous )
No Adjoined Maternity Hospital, not even planning applied for
The public reject St James
1.2bn for a new Hospital and the Coast Guard helicopter cannot use helipad
Remind me of the benefits again???
Solution - Move it to Connolly, build a world class hospital in a green field environment, with better access for the patients that will be coming from ALL OF IRELAND. Upgrade the adult hospital to a level 1 trauma centre and build the new maternity hospital (with the savings) on site. Plenty of room for good parking and facilities for staff and patients. loads of room for future expansion..
Its time for some common sense, listen to the thousands of families like mine that have been opposing St James from the Moment it was announced. We warned of the problems including cost overruns from day one!
